Hereditary Cancer Testing

The American Cancer Society estimates that approximately 40 percent of us will develop cancer at some point over the course of our lifetime. As such, cancer prevention and early detection is a core task of Family Medicine. Each one of our patients is screened in accordance with accepted guidelines every year at their annual wellness examination.

While most cancers are sporadic and cannot be predicted, many cancers do occur in patterns in certain families. Cancer risk can then be passed genetically from parent to child. Many genes associated with cancer risk have been identified and can be tested in multigene panels. We will help identify families that have patterns of cancer suggesting an elevated risk. We can then blend the personal family history with available multigene test panels to develop a unique cancer prevention strategy for you.

We are proud to be leaders in hereditary cancer testing.
